We’ve been homeschooling for 6 years now. Some days go better than others! Here’s where I’ll share what’s working for us, and what we think needs some adjustment.

Finally getting around to posting something on this page. We’ve taken a lot of different approaches over the years, including Susan Wise Bauer’s The Well-Trained Mind, Lori Pickert’s Project-Based Homeschooling, Charlotte Mason-style, almost unschooling, notebooking and Layers of Learning.  We have never tried an all-in-one curriculum; the closest to that we got was Moving Beyond the Page.  Last semester, I tried using Shmoop.com for some of the kids’ classes, but too many, I think.  Shmoop has a wide variety of possible classes, and I always have trouble overfilling my plate at a buffet.  Last semester I was overfilling the kids’ plates.  So, this semester, I’m slowing down and focusing on the joy of learning.  An example of a great joy of learning kind of day is in this post, from 1/12/18:

    • Thanks! Once the garden season winds down, I’m hoping to fill this page in a bit. We’ve only been homeschooling for 2 years (one year with both kids at home) – so we are still in the experimenting stage. But does that stage ever end? 🙂
